Dear Readers,
I am very pleased to present the inaugural issue of House Mountain Review, which was born in a year of unparalleled difficulty and loss. Nothing in these pages would be possible without the perseverance of our editors, Saddiq Dzukogi, Gabriel Gudding, Jessica Metzler, and Paloma Yannakakis, and the generosity and brilliance of our first contributors. I thank each of them from the bottom of my heart, and I hope this first issue will buoy your hopes as much as it has mine.
